WRU Digital Classroom

Get your children excited about rugby with the WRU Digital Classroom. Our programme is designed around the new welsh government curriculum requirements and is inclusive of all students, even if they don't like playing sport.

Welcome to the WRU Digital Classroom!

Rugby holds a unique place in Welsh life. Our mission is to use rugby to help engage pupils in the classroom through our new digital platform, providing ‘New Curriculum’ based rich tasks through the medium of rugby.

Whilst we ‘educate’ coaches referees, players, volunteers – we are not ‘educators’. We spoke to ‘real’ educators; teachers, headteachers and education consortia to understand whether this ambition was realistic, or indeed needed.

The feedback was extremely positive. We then enlisted a wider group of education specialists to help scope and, ultimately, write the programme.

We learned that the programme had to be:

  • Based on the ‘new curriculum’
  • Accessible
  • Written for educators, by educators
  • A resource for developing the Welsh language
  • Authentically ‘rugby’: from the values of the community game to the bright lights of the Principality stadium – the WRU brings with it rich and varied subject matter that can be applied in any education setting.
